Coming in April: Aromatherapy in the Childbearing Year workshop

I am pleased to announce that I will be running a workshop on the safe and careful use of aromatherapy in the process of becoming a mother. Each of the three trimesters will be covered as well as childbirth and the postpartum period.

Women who are currently expecting or plan to be in the near future may be especially interested in attending this workshop. I’m also inviting my colleagues in the birth community – midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and so forth.

Some of the topics we’ll be covering:

  • What essential oils are and how they are produced
  • Importance of sourcing pure, artisan-quality essential oils
  • Spotlight on 6 essential oils and their safety in the childbearing year
  • Contraindications and methods of use

For the hands-on portion of the class we will explore:

  • Making an aromatherapy inhaler for pregnancy
  • A body oil for labor
  • Soothing nipple poultice for breastfeeding
  • and sitz baths for postpartum perineal support
